Soar into Summer: Seasonal Yoga, Meditation & Journaling Workshop
I love the seasons and what each brings. Each has its own beauty & qualities. Our ancestors lived in sync with the seasons, but in our busy lives many of us have fallen out of sync with the changing natural rhythms. This 90 min Seasonal Self-Care Workshop aims to help us prepare and welcome the season of Summer - warmth, light and sunshine! The sun is the ultimate source of almost all light and heat on Earth and it’s a time when nature’s and our energy at their peak. It’s about getting our heart beating, balancing calm with vibrancy and a time for enjoyment rather than striving – a time for living life to the full! I am delighted to invite you to this Seasonal Yoga, Meditation & Journaling Workshop this May Bank Holiday Weekend.
What you can look forward to:
· Qi-Gong style warm-ups & cool downs
· A mini heat-building flow Yoga practice to build heat, move and stretch out our bodies
· Yin Yoga to ease tightness, tension & to balance out the busyness of Summer so we maintain a state of steadiness and ease

Elemental Connection:
In Chinese Medicine there are Five Elements central to its philosophy – Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth – with each element linked to a specific season, organ system and emotion.
Fire is linked to summer and it is important for our joy and our ability to be passionate and optimistic in life. It gives meaning to our relationships with others and allows us to express ourselves fully.
The fire element governs the blood, circulation and protection of the heart. Organ-wise fire is linked to our heart and small intestine and our ability to balance emotions and connection. Imbalanced heart energy (or Qi) can result emotionally as anxiety, lack of joy, restlessness.
Summer is a time for both movement and rest - to balance the fire element and avoid burnout– brisk walks outdoors, Yoga to boost circulation and release tension, cycling, swimming, dancing, or any kind of cardiovascular exercise are all beneficial. To help foster feelings of love and warmth choose metta style meditations.
The Flow:
This workshop will begin a warming yang style flowing sequence to help support a healthy heart and boost circulation. We will then settle into part two of the workshop - a cooling Yin Yoga practice.
This practice engenders a sense of calm and relaxation, encouraging physical, mental and emotional balance along with a connection to our creativity. Physically the focus is on moving deeper into the connective tissues of the body (ligaments, tendons and fascia) with each pose typically lasting two to five minutes.
I will ease you into a guided meditation to support calm and relaxation.
Essential oils tips and suggestions will be shared with your during the workshop too. The final segment of our workshop will be Journaling. I look forward to sharing some journaling prompts with you to help you reflect on your personal intensions for Summer. I will also be sharing information on what kinds of nutrition support our bodies best during Summer – think light, fresh, in season foods! I’ll even share some recipes with you directly to your inbox for you to keep.
