'Yin to the Woods' Spring Self-Care Workshop

Yin to the Woods Spring Season Workshop.png

I love the seasons and what each brings. Each has its own beauty & qualities. Our ancestors lived in sync with the seasons, but in our busy lives many of us have fallen out of sync with the changing natural rhythms. This Workshop aims to help reawaken us from Winter hibernation, nudge us gently into movement, growth & towards light. Spring is the time to renew & restart - Just as we spring clean our homes to make life lighter and ready for the warmth ahead, we can refresh our internal world, ridding ourselves of the sluggishness of the winter. I am delighted to invite you to this Seasonal Self-Care Workshop this February.

What you can look forward to:

·         A mini slow flow Yoga practice to shift energy & move our bodies

·         Yin Yoga to ease tightness, tension & to earth

·         Guided Meditation for grounding & calm

·         Reflective journaling prompts – focus on what your personal intension for this season is

·         Essential Oil tips to help support us during Springtime

·         Invitations to connect with Nature during Spring for balance and headspace

·         Seasonal Recipe Share – support your digestion naturally

Elemental Connection:

In Chinese Medicine there are Five Elements central to its philosophy – Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth – with each element linked to a specific season, organ system and emotion.

Wood is linked to Spring and represents new beginnings – birth, growth and development. A time when new forms are created from energies that rested, germinated and hibernated through the cold Winter. The wood element represents both strength & flexibility in body, mind & emotion. Organi-wise wood is linked to our liver & gallbladder and our ability to go with the flow of life. Imbalanced liver energy (or Qi) can result emotionally as anger, frustration & irritability. It can result in PMS and hormonal imbalances & muscle cramps and tightness in the body.

Spring is a time for movement and activity and to balance the wood element – brisk walks outdoors, Yoga to relieve muscle tension, martial arts, boxing & Qi Gong are all beneficial. To help ease frustration or anger, calming meditations are helpful.

The Flow:

This workshop will begin a detoxifying yang style flowing sequence to help assist our liver and move any stagnation or holding within. We will then settle into part two of the workshop - a reflective Yin Yoga practice.

This practice engenders a sense of calm and relaxation, encouraging physical, mental and emotional balance along with a connection to our creativity and vision. Physically the focus is on moving deeper into the connective tissues of the body (ligaments, tendons and fascia) with each pose typically lasting three to five minutes.

I will ease you into a guided meditation to support calm & relaxation.

Essential oils tips and suggestions will be shared with your during the workshop too. The final segment of our workshop will be Journaling. I look forward to sharing some journaling prompts with you to help you reflect on your personal intensions for Spring. I will also be sharing information on what kinds of nutrition support our bodies best during Spring – think detoxification, fresh, green foods! I’ll even share some recipes with you directly to your inbox for you to keep.
