January, a time to pause, a time to dream
Athbhliain faoi mhaise duit agus fáilte go dtí mí an Eanair! Happy new year to you and welcome to January!
The new year brings with it a collective yearning for change. It evokes in us a willingness to reflect and ask ourselves what that change might look like. And winter is the time to go within and listen.
We are bombarded by "get your life in order right now” / “new me” blah blah advertising. We are encouraged to go from the cocoon of the sofa to 100 miles an hour, often without even understanding why we are off at a gallop or where we are going. And all just because it's January?!
So, before we expend more precious energy chasing random things, let's PAUSE for a moment. A take a breather - feel into our body, heart & mind, tune into our energy. Create space to consider do we really know what we want for ourselves this year? This is still a time for inaction, a time to lie fallow and go deeper before taking action.
We are part of nature who is right now resting. But in our busy lives there is no time for fallow, unless we choose to create it. It’s not time to act yet, it’s a time to continue planning and dreaming. To consider what vision, dreams and goals do we have and what support and actions can help us make these a reality?
And so in this dreamtime, I leave you with these reflections to ponder.
What do you want to leave behind with the old year?
What are your hopes & wishes for the new year?
All that said, I do understand most of us feel sluggish and having indulged and lost track of what day it is, we feel the desire for structure again. That’s all very normal, so start small. Do one thing that you enjoy and that makes you feel good. Just one thing. One small change, one big impact. the rest can wait. Wishing you a healthy, peaceful New Year!
Go néirí an bóthar leat!
