The Celtic Wheel of Yoga
I work with nature in every wellbeing event I create, like pop-ups, retreats, outdoor events. But I don't always get to integrate nature into my weekly yoga classes. And I've wanted to for so long! Because fostering a deeper connection with the earth is one of the 3 cornerstones of my work - the others being Self & Community, so that everything I do supports and nourishes you and us.
On a walk a few weeks ago I had a brain wave! I figured out a way of weaving nature, seasonal living and yoga all together in one place, indoors! And so The Celtic Wheel of Yoga was born! There is nothing else out there like this, because it's me - it's all the things I love intertwined as one.
I decorate the centre of our candlelit Yoga Circle in seasonal greenery and candles to help us immerse in the freshness, light and life of spring. I hand pick the plants and trees that feature from my own land, each chosen for a special meaning.
At the beginning of each class, I share stories and information about what I've gathered and you get to feel, touch, smell and sometimes taste the seasonal greens! I share a seasonal cycle check-in with an intention. In this Spring to Equinox cycle we will trying some nature journaling with guided prompts I've created for you.
Then we begin our slow flow yoga and settle into some deeper, long-hold poses in Yin. And finish with a nature inspired meditation infused with essential oils.
As one recent participant our Winter to Imbolc cycle said,
“It was amazing. Such a lovely blend of storytelling, meditation and yoga. I left feeling as though I’d spent the day at a spa!”
