21 Day+ Journaling Course

Welcome to Ebb & Flow Yoga’s new 21 Day Journaling Course.

We all know 2020 has been a really tough year, full of highs and lows and as we now embark on a new year of 2021 with renewed hope, it's important to press pause just for a moment before launching right in.

We are bombarded by "get fit now" / lose weight / get your life in order / detox everything advertising. We are encouraged to go from the cocoon of the sofa to 100 miles an hour, just because it's January! But let's pause for a moment, it's January, nature is in hibernation. Winter is a time for restoration and rest. During this important period nature rejuvenates and prepares for growth in Spring (February onwards). Many years ago our ancestors were in sync with the seasons and natural life. Their lives and practices mirrored this rhythm; but in our modern, busy, stressful lives we tend to insulate ourselves from nature. We refer to nature as a separate entity - something we admire, study, avoid or paint - it feels as though we removed ourselves from it.

One of my missions is to invite and encourage you to reconnect during this course - not only to yourself but to Nature & it's beauty & rhythm and, to feel again that you are part of it, not separate from it.

Now to journaling - journaling is the practice of using writing as a tool to express your thoughts and feelings. These often surround events & relationships in your life. There is NO right or wrong way to journal. There are no constraints. You don't need any fancy equipment or even lots of time. All you need is a notebook and pen and 20 mins of time each day over the next 21 days together.

When we journal we write, when we write we are working on ourselves - it's self development & self care and to be honest it's 20 mins of the day where you get to check in with yourself, to have some you-time. it helps us make sense of what's going on inside us and how we relate to what's going on around us. We often to turn to others for advice and guidance but forget about our own innate, inner wisdom. This untapped wisdom can be unlocked by the simple art of journaling.

One of the biggest revelations this year of living through a pandemic has been a universal yearning for self-care and for true connection with ourselves and others. Journaling is a safe, highly effective way of going within & re-connecting.

What you can look forward to:

Each week has a theme and you will receive a daily email with practice ideas and journaling prompts for you consider and write about in relation to yourself and your inner world. The first email of each week also includes a Wild Connection & Personal Practice (see more below).

Week 1: Pause & Reflect

Before we move forwards, it’s important to know where are starting from. This first week focuses on reflecting & learning from our experiences and deciding what we’d like to take onwards with us. Where have we come from?

Week 2: Honour & Recognise

Give yourself the time & space to recognise who you are, what’s strength, skills and experiences you have and look deeper into who you are and your place in the world. This is all about who you are now & an honest look at where you’re at.

Week 3: Roles, Goals & Dreams

Where would you like to go now? This week, you’ll start to pull all these insights and ideas together into a plan you can move forward with into 2021 and make it an amazing year for you. What will this year look like for you, what do you want for yourself from it and who would you like to be?

Week 4:+ Commit

Though this is technically a 21 Day Course, I share with you some further suggestions on how to continue a regular (if not daily!) journaling practice and some themes you might like to continue to explore for yourself.

  • Community - I invite you to join me on a weekly live Zoom call to gather in Community to chat about any insights or questions you may have and to share (if you wish) a little about how you’re getting on and your journey on this Course. Please note these will NOT be recorded due to the sharing aspect of these gatherings.

  • Wild Connection Practice - Each week you will be invited to embark upon a practice to help you connect to yourself & to Nature. You will receive one practice suggestion each week to complete in your own time.

  • Personal Practice - I’ll share a practice or suggestion each week with you to complete in your own time.

  • Support - I am here for you via email right through this 21 Day Course for any questions, insights or support you may need help with.

  • Resource Links - I tend to give a lot in terms of follow up links, reading materials etc so I’ll be sharing lots of different references with you should you wish to go down the rabbit hole!
